As the siding was going up I noticed there were doing very little cutting of the metal. I talked to the crew and found that the siding is ordered by the builder to exact length. While that might be a little more expensive, it is a great time saver. The only exception was the gable ends. The guys did have to cut the angle but the even the drawings had those cutting dimensions.


You can see where they angled the frames at the top of the door openings. This is called a “colonial” or “cape cod” or “dog-eared” cut, depending on who you talk to. I had them put in to match the garage door opening on the house
